all of these silly poems
written about you lining up
like unnecessary soldiers
to collect dust for me
in a random journal waiting
arbitrarily to be tossed
one day in the bin by
some stranger who never
knew what it felt like
to cry over the words.

We were here yesterday
I’m taking our words.
They’re all I really have left of us now that we’re both gone.
energy
There is
an energy
translated in time
unique, quickening
existing to be lost
in expression,
an openness
urges that please
clarity, business
divine dissatisfaction
rushing into lungs,
keeping us
alive.
for lack of any words
empty subject lines
and emptier bodies still
unsent messages
Winter Saturdays
cozy Saturdays
bathing in winter’s warm sun
admiring cool breaths
The 8-hour office
They placed her in their 8-hour office
numbed her soul as they closed the door
locking her in like a bird
in a cage, demanding it sing
to impress eager visitors.
She spun in their office chair
(without the excuse of childhood)
took their humdrum pen to command
tedious technical information, but
all that came to her was poetry.
When they returned later to see
how she got on with their work,
they found an empty chair
spinning indifferently, and
marveled at her disappearance.
She found their tasks a
prosy impossibility, you see,
and she angered at the sheepish
nature of time, the clock
that couldn’t quite keep up.
So rather than wait time out
she inhaled tasty breaths of
otherworldly air, clicked her heels together
and disappeared indefinitely into her
ravenous imagination.
On fire
Set monotony
on fire. Dragon’s heavy breath
dispelling burdens.
the last seduction
Stubborn till the end
Rapturous forget-me-nots
Seducing the sky
ruins
beside you
my heart
in ruins
siren
a ship of dreamers
sailing toward a false dawn
unblinking siren
